About this place
An evening at Sasameyuki can mean choosing small plates one by one, ordering only as much as you feel like eating. One group stopping in for an after-party ordered octopus sashimi, strips of mountain yam, chive omelette, island shallots and mushrooms with ponzu. They found the octopus a good choice when they did not want to order several kinds of sashimi, making it a handy option for a night of nibbling on a little at a time.
The chive omelette was chosen as a more substantial dish, and its rich flavour and fragrant chives made an impression. A reviewer described the mushrooms with ponzu as enoki and shimeji cooked in foil and finished with a squeeze of lemon. For something refreshing, the mushrooms or island shallots may fit the bill; for a heartier bite, there is the chive omelette.
The drinks menu includes beer, highballs and sake, making it easy to settle in for a drink alongside the food.
Set meals are also available at lunchtime. One diner who ordered the grilled horse mackerel set meal was surprised by the generous rice portion and enjoyed the accompanying fried squid. Listed lunch options also include teppan pork steak and chicken tenderloin cheese katsu with tartar sauce; set meals come with rice, miso soup, a small side dish and pickles. Several diners have remarked on the generous rice portions, so anyone concerned about the amount may want to ask for less when ordering.
This Tamatsukuri izakaya serves set meals at lunchtime and small plates in the evening. Payment is cash only.
